Englishman Paul Casey claimed his first tournament victory in 20 months, after holding his nerve to win the inaugural Volvo Golf Champions event in Bahrain.
Casey, at world ranked ninth the highest-rated player in the field, carded a final round four-under-par 68 for a 72-hole 20-under-par total of 268, one stroke ahead of European Ryder Cup teammates Miguel Angel Jimenez (67) and Peter Hanson (69).
Scotsman Stephen Gallacher also carded a 67 to finish one stroke further back in fourth place, with Sweden's Robert Karlsson producing a sparkling 66 to take fifth position.
Casey and Hanson came to the final hole level on 19-under-par but both fluffed their approach shots to the green.
However, Swede Hanson failed to get up and down from a difficult bunker lie, leaving Casey a tricky six-foot par putt to clinch the title.
After ending his trophy drought, Casey -- who was controversially left out of the Ryder Cup despite his high world ranking -- told the official European Tour website: It feels fantastic to win. The most important thing to me is winning and that was huge.
"The goal for me is obviously the majors, but how are you going to win the major events if you can't win regular tournaments?"
"I was lucky to have a putt to win. Peter was phenomenal and didn't make any mistakes really until the last."
